I have led a product from one end to the other

The stages below run in the order the work happens: the requirement that starts a programme through to hardware installed and running. I have carried a product across that whole distance, and led the work at each stage on programmes that shipped: surgical robotics, orthopaedic implants, ocean robotics and a 15,000 A industrial plant. Each stage carries its evidence and a detail sheet of the work behind it.

Most programmes run across several of these stations rather than one. I work the full span.

Note 01
Why the work matters

Delivered hardware operates close to people. An implant in a hip. A mechanism beside a surgeon. A 15,000 A plant, running a few feet from the person operating it. A robot working in open water.

Delivered

Sparkmate

15,000 A electrolysis plant. Grams to tonnes in twelve months.

Precision Robotics

Surgical robot mechanisms, into cadaveric and animal trials.

Lifespans

Orthopaedic implants and instruments. Implant simulation system, deployed in industry.

ClearBot

First ocean robot built and tested. Now a funded company.

Typical engagements

Four recurring cases
01

A machine or mechanism to be designed from requirements.

02

A prototype that has to become a manufacturable product.

03

A design to be manufactured in China, managed end to end.

04

A hardware team that needs an additional engineer for a period.

General notes

02Open to all of it: a casual project as much as a full-time role, picking up a problem partway through as much as starting one from scratch. Hong Kong permanent resident, based here or open to remote.
03Work is indexed under mechanical engineer, mechanical design engineer, design engineer, robotics engineer, R&D engineer, product development engineer, hardware engineer and DFM engineer, in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and remote. The titles vary; the work is the same.
